TuneECU is a free piece of software written by Alain Fontaine. It is a useful programming and diagnostics tools for the following motorcycles:- Aprilia Caponord & RST Futura, KTM 990/1190, and all fuel injected Triumph twins and triples.

This video offers a quick demonstration of the software, where I load a tune (EFI map), make a few basic modifications, and load it into the bike's computer. I also take a quick look at test and diagnostic modes. This software is a real must for anyone with a keen interest in tuning.

All you need to get up and running is an OBD II cable (16 pin variety with FTDI chipset and USB interface), a PC or laptop and the free software.

You can find information, instruction manual, OEM maps, and download TuneECU yourself direct from http://www.tuneecu.com/

  • @frankgnyhuis Not got dyno for it yet, hope to get it done by March (before next racing season). From having tried half a dozen factory tunes, I just know from the way it runs and pulls that it is the best I have tried yet. I got it from a member of Tiger1050(dot)com (indytiger1050) and there are quite a few of us running it now. Its available free on that forum, or if you want to sent me your e-mail address, I will send it over with some specs (don't type your e-mail in comments!)

  • @markjrobbins Hey mark, very interested in the new tune. Have you had it on the dyno yet to see what it is like? Cheers

  • @frankgnyhuis 20546 is the latest Arrow Race tune with no cat / sai option. It is safe for up to 25% ethanol content at 95ron or above octane. Do not use low octane fuel with this tune. I ran this tune for a while, and the first thing I noticed was it shot flames out of the exhaust when you close the throttle (see my video "Triumph Tiger 1050 - modified Arrow exhaust + re-tune = flamethrower!"). I posted a comment on your channel about a custom tune if you are interested PM me

  • @markjrobbins Hi again, yeah has cat, checked this the other day, and has tune installed from dealer for arrow exhaust, and 91 ron fuel. Was going to do decat and put in tune 20547, 91ron, or 20545 95ron Which would you suggest?

  • @frankgnyhuis no probs, sounds like you are lucky if its an susie model and not an import you should have no cat / sai to remove. On cat models there is a bulge at the end of the header (manifold) just infront of where the link pipe to the can is connected. Yours shouldn't have this. Also, your bike should already have the Arrow race decay tune installed if it was done properly. When you get your cable I suggest uploading current tune from bike to laptop and check.

  • @markjrobbins Hi thanks Mark. Thanks for the help. I live in Australia, hence the question on the cat and sai. Just have to wait now for the OBD 2 cable to do the Tune. Can't wait. Cheers

  • @frankgnyhuis If your Tiger has a cat, then it will also have sai. There are no Tigers with cat but not sai. Cats are standard in north america and europe. Non-cat versions are rarer and mostly in south america, and australia. If your Arrow exhaust has no baffles, it is likely the race version (street legal version has fixed baffle). If you are doing decat, and want a standard tune, try the brazil arrow race tune (it is safe for decat and tolerant of ethanol content in fuel). Hope this helps.

  • Hi Mark, A tuning question for you. I have a triumph tiger 09 1050, with arrow exhaust without baffles. I suspect it would be the race version. I am wanting to remove my cat and dont think it has sai. Which tune would be the best in this situation. Cheers

  • yep makes sense,nice idea,thanks mark

  • @karlwb1 You are correct, pulling the fuse prevents it starting. Once map is uploaded to the bike, you can put fuse back in and initiate TPS reset procedure. To be honest, most bike with a fully charged good working battery can maintain enough voltage to do an upload and still start-up OK. It only takes a few minutes.... On my bike I installled a switch to kill the headlight, so I just use that when doing mine and starting it. Hope this makes sense!
