This is the very first Las Vegas REALTOR site tour to Project City Center on the Las Vegas Strip. Great insite into what to expect in the coming months here is Las Vegas. http://www.timmerrell.com/genre/City-Center
My issue is not with scale; it's with the projects outdated and mundane aesthetical style of mediocrity, a rehash of what has already been done requiring no creative genius and no innovative imagination.
@Eschatus2 never heard of that in LA but there is such a building in London. It looks ok. This is not a tower though it is a massive hotel, you're not really seeing the whole thing, this is a tad bigger then that project you speak of.
That's it? Why did they build these ugly linear boxes when the new revolution in 21st Century architecture is curvilinear and lattice organic membranes due to the incredible synthetic and durable hightech materials that have been developed tandem with the latest computer design capability? Los Angeles is completing a far more spectacular 60 storey shear blue glass skycraper, The Shard, with an incredible sweeping arc.

@Eschatus2
Maybe you are under-scaling the project.
It's a hotel, mall, apartment complex, art gallery, arena project.
Also these buildings need to be cost-efficient to the company funding this massive 8.5 billion dollar project.
