This stalemate happened to me yesterday against my dad, he taught me how to play but failed to teach me this lol so annoying to draw such a sure victory.

@meuske95 Uh, nope. It's not a draw. You need to brush up on your chess rules and what constitutes a draw.

Once the queen is a knight's hop away, it just imitates the king's move unless the king dives into a corner (in that case give the king a to-and-fro groove in the corner) or you have to take a different knight hop because you ran out of board.

im a beginner and im very conffuzled as to why youd do that. to cut back on time sure but the first way worked great.. all i care about is winning which is why i suck. good idea but u cood have made the title for experts

i think this is called rolling checkmate
The rules of 3-move repetition to force draw is that the POSITION on the chess board repeats itself thrice. Ask yourself what that means ... POSITION! The Black king and White queen are static and will repeat their respective positions but are you not forgetting the White King moving up the board as this tutorial suggests? Please refer to Wikipedia or any good chess rule book if you still have doubts as to how this rule applies.
