That's right, it was more of a concept harvester showing new forest technology - the thoughts about it is to always have ground contact and not having to break the finished logs in the forest by running over them. It never got any further than the stage of the movie machine though

This is innovation. How do you think the wheel came about? It wasn't because people said: "What's wrong with legs?" :)
In the future this technology will enable tractors to go over obstacles one with wheels never could.
