Acer Aspire One 3-Cell Battery Test

3 Different tests of the battery, high performance, normal netbook use, and fullscreen video with no wifi.

I must say, not very impressive at all for the purpose of netbooks. (although it did feel long when I'm making a video trying to drain it ;)

The AC power brick is pretty small, so consider carrying that around, or invest in a 6-cell battery.

Have you done any tests with the cpu set to 800Mhz?  just curious.

as in like, while its on battery power? i think when you are on battery, it automatically sets it down to 800mhz, dunno tho, just what ive heard

Also things like the full screen video playback, the playback time may be extended depending on what codecs are used to encode the video and the audio. For example an H264AVC video will require more CPU resources to decode than say a normal MP4 video or other less complex formats. 6 cell batteries are also a simple fix for longer use.

Theres a few things you can try to save the battery on your netbook. I just got a Dell Inspiron Mini 10v and there is a setting in the BIOS to force lower power consumption at all times or normal mode where the speed is adjusted by applet or software, thats one way. Another is to turn down the LCD backlight brightness it uses a lot of power. SSD probably use less power than regular HDD cause of no need for drive spinning. How much hardware resources your apps use. Add more RAM to stop swapping.

I Just installed windows 2000 on my aspire one and it goes like 6hr!

my bro's macbook G3's battery lasts for 5 hours with normal notebook usage. this is pretty sad =( why can't acer give it a better battery?

on xp it has power control so if u adjust it to max battery than it will go about

You can install whatever OS you want via USB stick or external DVD-drive.

Actually I find this results really good. My current HP dv2000 laptop last almost the same. Of course it's a bigger machine (it's very lightweight tho) and bigger battery.
