Margaret Cushing Whitman wasborn August 4, 1956. She was President and Chief Executive Officer of eBay from March 1998 to March 2008, when she stepped down from her role. She has been a director since March 1998, and continues to serve in that capacity. Whitman joined eBay when it was a small auction website with 30 employees and revenues of more than $4 million. According to Forbes magazine, Whitman was worth an estimated $1.4 billion in 2007.

She is one of only seven women to have been repeatedly ranked among the world's most influential people by Time magazine. Whitman was mentioned as a possible Vice Presidential candidate for presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain until McCain picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Whitman also has singing aspirations and reportedly auditioned for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in August 2008. She is a cousin of the choir's music director, Mack Wilberg.

DO NOT vote for her!!! I have been selling on Ebay for year, I have never seen a company so greedy & evil than Ebay/Paypal. She cashed out after she knew the company is going to hell, then put in someone who'ss even worse Jon Donahoe whose Glassdoor CEO rating only at 30%!!! She single handed has destroyed many small home business and if you think you are your own boss by selling on eBay, think again!!! You are nothing but a slave to eBay/Paypal! Vote someone else!!!

This woman took a wonderful company - an American icon - and destroyed it with her low-road business tactics (similar to Wal-Mart). EBay COULD have been a long-term company, but instead Meg chose to go the low road, using greedy, "squeeze every last profit out now and the hell with the future" tactics. EBay has lost thousands of sellers and will lose more.  She has been a DISASTER & Donohoe is worse.

Wow, I never had any major problems with eBay, but after watching your video I am totally glad that I haven't! That is some messed up stuff. I I thought that it was supposed to be safer, but apparently just for the shady buyers.

I was a 500+ positive feedback powerseller.

I lost my business due to the new feedback policy. I had to liquidate my assets of a very successful ebay shop owner and get a real job for american express.

Haven't corporations and corporate dillholes run roughshod enough over our gov't in the last 8 years, esp. with all the pro-corporation and anti-regulation appointees Bush set up in all the diff. agencies?? The last thing we need is a CEO or even a former CEO of a multibillion dollar co. as Treasury Sec. It's too important a job. We've already bailed out wall st., too.
