No, The baby is not her son. The story is, she loves the king, Louis XIV, but she thinks that the king now doesn't love her. So, she practices black wizardry to win back the love of the king. For this, she has to kill a baby, but, like you said, she refuses to kill him. That's very difficult to translate this story in english when you're french like me, so, sorry for my bad english ^^'
