First video of the turbo setup running. Car is completely stock 5.7 TPI with 140k miles on it, except for Precision Turbo 65# injectors, Megasquirt II 3.0 and an Ebay T-70 turbo with a $20 Ebay blowoff valve. Exhaust is noisy because I haven't welded the flanges on the front of the cat. Stock 2.5" exhaust and muffler still too!

Already finding the limits of the stock fuel pump and ignition, so upgrades coming soon. Yes I know the manifold is leaking, have to pull all of it back off this week to find the source. Also have to put some additional heat shielding in and run the cold air intake tubing. Intercooler coming after the fuel upgrades so I can turn up the boost. Plan to run 12 psi on the stock engine and 18-20 after I upgrade the internals.

Lot's of fun, not really so fast but hella better than stock! At 6 psi, the engine should be producing around 315 hp and 435 ft lbs tq

  • did you custom make your exhaust manifolds or use the ebay ones?

  • i really want to do this with my TPI. my engine is really built as it is, forged crank, high lift hydrolic roller cam, trick flow alum heads, stiff springs, and slum roller rockers, h-beam forged rods and forged pistons. its in a K2500, will this basic set-up still work you think? Or will 2 turbos be better? Im not sure of my compression ratio however.. and i still need to port the intake

  • @zz3astro after 2 and a bit years hows the china bay turbo holding up??

  • @Etnricer It wasn't my car I was talking about. It was my friend's 89 TPI corvette with a single 72 (or 76mm) turbo. To answer your question though, 112 mph in the 1/8 works out to about 10.0 @ 138 mph in the 1/4. He's putting the car back together this winter so I hope to have some vids of it in the spring.

  • @Etnricer Wasn't talking about my car for 600 & 112 mph. That was my friend's 89 corvette with a single turbo TPI so I don't have any vids. To answer your question though, 112 in the 1/8 is good for about 10.0 @ 138 mph in the 1/4. He's putting that car back together this winter so I'll have some vids of it in the spring.

  • @zz3astro Everything you said i believed till you said 600HP and 112 in the 1/8th. So does that mean you run 200 in the 1/4? any Dyno vids or 1/8 runs???

  • @Munky332

    try ebay or junkyard

  • @zz3astro

    thanks a ton

  • @RIEKSONE Yes and actually I was wrong about it being a 383. It is actually only a 355! Basically he fabricated headers to a single turbo (I want to say 76mm, could be a 72 though). Has single Walbro 255, precision turbo 65 lb injectors, world product heads, stock tpi intake, Big Stuff 3 ecm, 700r4, cheap B&M stall around 2500, 2.52 rear. Dynoed close to 600 rwhp, over 600 ft lbs and ran 112 mph in the 1/8. Stock fuel system and intake other than the mods above.
