financially speaking..... how does couchsurfing work? the host doesn't not charge? so we only are responsible for food and airfare?

@Moratorium harsh! is there anything wrong with doing a selfless act, regardless of the motives? I can't tell you how many muslims' houses that I've stayed at and, of course they're hope is that I convert, but I appreciate their hospitality, as anyone's, just the same. You're too harsh and unfair.

Why does everyone think your gonna get killed or raped? 100% of people i have told about me going couchsurfing this summer have said im gonna get killed.. lol

CouchSurfing seems like it will be a good experience for me as I plan to travel to as many places as I can on my bike :) . Just plain mad according to most of my friends and family but I will be doing it anyway :P
