David Baker, now in his 25th year at Denison, is a critically acclaimed poet and Professor of English. In addition to teaching classes in creative writing, poetry writing, and American and modern literature, Baker serves as poetry editor to the famed Kenyon Review. His poems and essays have appeared widely in magazines such as The Atlantic Monthly, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Slate and more than a hundred others. Baker's ninth book of poetry, Never-Ending Birds, which was released last fall to glowing reviews, addresses topics such as nature and the intricacies of a modern family.
In this video, Baker reads his poetry to the Denison community and talks about the humbleness of writing, the safety of learning, and the honor of teaching.
I wonder how many poets in America have the name of David Baker?
It is nice to be confused with this man. But in my defense I was a poet before I knew he existed. I love his work. I am published as DS Baker
