By all technical means, all forms of music have to do with time signatures in some form or another!

But that's a good argument as to why it's called that!

It's called mathcore because someone decided, one day, to mix Math Rock and Hardcore together and make some illegitimate, bastard son that sounds so damn good, it needs an unexpected name like mathcore.

That and, you know, it's a fusion of math rock, placing heavy emphasis on complex rhythms, etc., and hardcore.
