U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) speaks in support of House Concurrent Resolution 131, which will direct the Architect of the Capitol to engrave our country's official national motto, In God We Trust and the Pledge of Allegiance in the Capitol Visitor Center. The objective of this legislation is to place these two important reminders of our country's ideals in this distinguished building which thousands of Americans visit each day to learn about our rich history and our political process.

  • @goduniverse There is nothing to whine about since we are no longer being fed to the lions.

  • @joskemom Thank you for admitting that. And as an atheist, I don't give a damn about the objections of Christians who keep whining about religion is on the decline feel the need to spend their time passing silly bills like this

  • "In God We Trust" is not our motto. It was added to the pledge of allegiance and to our paper currency in the 1950's.

  • @tcw00 Yeah, why complain about something that has been there for the longest? How fucking retarded are you? Why did black people complain about racism when it had been there for the longest? Why did women complain about their lack of rights when it had been there for the longest? Just because something retarded and imposing has been there for 50 years doesn't mean we can't protest it. The dollar bill imposes the idea of having an imaginary friend that hates homosexuals on my kids.

  • As a Christian I must admit--- I dont give a damn about the objections of an athiest.

  • "endowed by their creator" aka your parents... or whoever else you believe created you. It does not say God and does not say it doesn't mean your parents.

The National Motto wasn't "In God We Trust" until 1956. Our real national motto is on our great seal and it's "E Pluribus Unum" or in English "Of many, One" or "Out of Many, One"

The Pledge of Allegiance (1892) did not include "under God" until 1954.

  • Ron Paul (who is religious) was the only Republican and only 1 of 8 total representatives to vote against this bill. It will cost up to $150,000 to engrave it.

  • Thank you Gregg, "In God we trust" is well founded. Let us always remember this.

  • Ofcourse, the national motto and pledge of allegiance should be engraved on any public building in the U.S. America is based on Christian values and beliefs, and if the athiest who do not believe in God, well that is their problem. They can't speak for the millions of Americans who believe in God, and that is over 75%. The freethinkers and agnostics should not try to go up against those who believe in God, because then there will be a fight for God and his words, and he shall win over evil.
