Folks, currently on the road...so no time or software to edit this one up nicely (yet).
Anyhow, this video is really far more about the SOUND of the train leaving Hattiesburg, rather than the video itself. Best to wait until the 15 or 30 second mark for things to start happening.
I was camped out all the way up front, in the furthest foreward Viewliner I could position myself. Unfriendly, gruff conductors/car attendents were on this trip, so I was quite concerned about getting lectured (or thrown off). So, while filming, I actually had the camera held out by a tri-pod. That way, if something came along, it would destroy the camera and not my arm. This is one reason why the camera is a tad shaky, and pointed too far down.
Note the nice diamond leaving Hattiesburg.
@CP359 Thanks for your comments, Dave. I love railroad audio, too, and just posted a clip featuring "the sounds of 1401" which I remember listening to A LOT as a kid.
Sorry for the delay in getting a response to you. Been on the road a lot! Best, Andy D.

Andy,
To me, the audio in a video capture is just as important as the video... and this audio is superb! From that beautiful K5LA to those Genesis units working to get the train up to speed, to the clack-clack over the diamond, this is great stuff! Truly "the audio of railroading" here. Great job! And the video's not so bad, either! (I didn't know the door windows opened in the Viewliner sleepers.. will have to check it out next time!)
