@TheFailnoob Ninjas required the Ninjato in order to scale heightened walls or buildings. They would normally stick the sword into the ground when sceathed and pull the sword up using a ribbon or piece of rope. Also they needed it for defense from oponents. Hope this was useful

The Ninja To is a myth. It's not a tool used in Ninpo. The first swords came to Japan from china and they were straight but japan moved away from the straight blade very early on in it history.
