I ask Amazon.com and others to guard customer privacy by working to stop passage of a recent bill which Republicans in the House Judiciary Committee passed, an act which would force Internet service providers to track user names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers and web sites users have visited in the last year. If this act becomes law, I and many others will no longer use the Internet, because we will have lost the right to expect that our privacy will be guarded and respected. This means that Amazon and other online merchants will lose significant business. I urge all businesses which sell online to use their influence to stop this measure before it becomes law.
