This is the best recording i've heard of this aria. I think it's a lot to do with carusos performance, but also the simplistic arrangament with just the beautiful piano.

The music is wonderful and makes any love scene that much more enchanting, I believe that you are correct that without this music, the move would have taken on a very different quality. When I hear Enrico sing I feel as if I rise above myself, yet in myself, as the body emotes. I respond mentally and the body physically and the two join together undergoing deep felt emotions and become one spiritually.

I thank Woody Allen for choosing this wonderful music and the tenor of tenors to perform it. One can hear the needle noise of the old recording very clearly, but also hear (and feel) the magic of that voice very clearly !
