@MAnnaconduit1 It's part of his charcter. He's supposed to be realistic and intelligent, hence why he's the only one who objects to bringing to horse in. He knows he is no match for Achilles and that he cannot fight well hand to hand, so he kills using the weapon he is skilled in. If he did not, he would die. Considering how his objective was to save the priestess and help others escape alive, I consider his actions somewhat noble. He avoided being foolish to stay alive for others
for those of us who are soldiers or "warriors" in my family, to die in combat, especially hand to hand combat has no greater honor, however i agree with you in the field that is hardly the case. i have yet to face an opponent one on one, i hope i never have too and I apologize if i have offended you. however the Greek and Trojan soldiers were trained to fight hand to hand, to fight for honor and to kill mercilessly, I see sharpshooters gunmen and archer as assassins...
@MAnnaconduit1 I'll tell you what, the day you can say that you fought a man to the death with swords, spears, and clubs, you can talk about fighting like a real man all you want. I highly doubt that anyone these days, much less yourself, would honestly act much differently. I fought and killed one man in a knife fight in Iraq, and you cannot imagine the terror.
@UnUltimatedLink it was a movie mistake.though as the myth says even if he was sliced or stabbed he would die anyway, because his mother had made him undiable(bad english) by getting him in a unice river.that river's water made you undieable.the only part that didnt get into the water was his feet.thats why he died.atleast thats what the myth says
exactly then at the end because he is such a coward and weak fool he shoots Achilles with an arrow, i mean he is too pathetic to fight him like a real man, so he ambushes Achilles like an assassin. makes me wonder why Helen chose him, there is nothing manly or impressive about Paris, he is merely a man whore, perhaps that is why she likes him because she is a whore as well, it always made me mad that she escapes, when in the illiad she is taken back. should have run them through
Achilles should have beheaded hector, that would be the greatest insult and disgrace as there would be no head or eyes for them to place the coins on and pay hectors way across the river styx to the underworld, he would have been forced to go through the world a restless miserable spirit. just saying if Achilles was so pissed off he should have done that,.
