  • how the hell did u get in there

  • By picking up Tiger Stadium Memorabilia Auction stuff at the Stadium. A lady let me and my son go the field and take one last look.

  • Is there an update on whether or not they are trying to save this one time baseball palace or is the City Of Detroit letting this grand structure rot and tear it down?

  • The city of Detroit are still looking at what to do with the place. They said they would know some time this year.(2008)

  • that is sad. how did you get in?

  • This is one of the dumbest moves on Detroits part, destroying history in the making

Why not destroy half of the houses that are empty and trashed to make shopping malls instead of tiger stadium

What idiot makes these stupid decisions

  • I always got a chilling feeling when we would drive down I75 and I seen the stadium. It's a feeling I don't get with Comerica. Its that excitement in the pit of your stomach where as I feel the new park is a Carnival.

It's sad to see the old girl looking like that.

  • Good thing they tore it down! I mean look at those seats; they're right on top of the field. With a noisy crowd so close, how is a visiting batter supposed to concentrate? It just wouldn't be fair. And also look at the upper deck, why would common people be allowed to sit so close? It's better to move the everyday seats and common people out and back so that the more important purchasers of corporate luxury boxes may have the best views. What good is a ballpark in a neighborhood? =P

  • @Brado777 the bureaucrats do, as long as they can get money for it, they are in it for the long haul, they don't care who it hurts, that's what it has come down to these days, bureaucracy and money, as I said before, they don't give a darn as to who it hurts or what effect it has on others lives as long as there is money to be made.

  • Oh God, my heart literally dropped when I saw the disrepair of the old stadium. The peeling paint represents just such a sad demise to a place that meant so much at one point in time. I know all buildings and stadiums fall to the ravages of time but that stadium saw so many wonderful sporting and social moments that . . . well, it hurts.

  • Boy did I drink a lot of Baileys Irish Creme on cold opening days in Tiger Stadium. Good memories of days gone by

  • You are the luckiest man alive !!! I would be in tears to stand on that spot.

  • They did do a nice job with Comerica Park...but Tiger Stadium will always have my heart. Another piece of my childhood memories that are just that...memories.

  • i think fenway should remodel and add more seats if possible

  • they'll still be around

  • It's quite sad - the mystique of Tiger Stadium is far beyond that of Fenway Park. A working man's town for ions. A city established in 1701. This demolition adds to the ebb of Detroit. This should be baseball's Hall of Fame. Tiger Stadium was witness to the BEST hitting (per batting average) teams

in baseball history via the Tigers. Sure it got its name in the early 60's but there is just so much that goes with this stadium without saying. I'm glad to see others are in disgust about this.
