And if you do indeed pay road tax, a tax that hasn't existed since Churchill then I agree you do indeed own the road. Well done. Oh dear, this is false on so many levels. Please go read about Road Tax and what it means you will be surprised. 9/10 Cyclists are drivers of cars. If you where in your car and a truck did this to you and you had to slam on... what do you think your reaction would be? At that speed if the truck hit you would have alot of chance of surviving. A cyclist has none. You really are the stereotype that this country does not need.

Lorry should have stopped. I saw this on TV, you said you clearly got eye contact with the driver and therefore thought he had seen you. Clear case of a lapse of thinking for a moment by the driver, his brain obviously didn't register you. IMO this is one for the argument about re-designing our roads with well thought out cycle infrastructure. (good, properly designed infrastructure like in the Netherlands and Copenhagen) Glad you were ok, that must have been an incredibly frightening experience

What some people call road tax isn't road tax. Sir Winston Churchill got rid of 'road tax' in 1937. It's actually known as Vehicle Excise Duty and the payment is dependent on the vehicle's emission levels. If you have a very low emission (I think currently it's 99g/km or less) or your car is hybrid (if emissions 99g/km or less) or electric, you pay nothing but still have to have a VED disc. Please people, forget road tax, doesn't exist. Roads are paid for out of general taxation, so we all pay.

I think the ruling is wrong. The company that uses the lorry in question has an obligation to supply details of who was driving, unless Scotland has ruled that out as well. Did the company discipline the driver? If not then surely they risk their ops licence? The ruling stinks of severe corruption.
