egg sheel is calcium carbonate, the egg shell is disolved by the vinegar (weak acid) the bubbles given off are carbon dioxide. After the majority of the shell is gone, the egg is bouncy

@trixia6 isnt it simple??? vinegar = acid..egg shel= ca2co3...the shell dissolve leaves the semipermiable inner egg shell and by placing that in water... it undergoes osmosis... :P

..is it hard boiled egg..before you soaked it in vinegar? and uhm, what did you do in the end? did you soak it in water? and, how long will this experiment take?. how long do we need to soak it in vinegar? AWESOME EXPERIMENT BTW.

no you dont use a hard boiled egg. You can let it sit for any wear between a day and 2 but no less. you can soak it in water and the egg would get bigger or put it in corn syrup and it will deflate.
