John Francis Bradford Jr., 70, of Houston, Texas died at his home Friday, January 29th, 2010. He was born July 5, 1939 in Chuquicamata, Chile to Dr. John Francis Bradford, Sr. and Carolyn Perner Bradford. He attended primary school in Chile, coming to Texas to further his education. He was a strong, quiet and independent man with who made up his own mind about the world around him.

John was the proud owner of a 34 Ford Roadster winning several drag racing trophies all over Texas while earning his BA degree at Baylor University. John worked his way through college at Sams Garage in Waco, Texas where he met and married Sam Clements daughter, Kathryn. They moved to Houston where he worked for Shell Pipeline, later working at Shell Westhollow Technology Center where he was respected for his knowledge and patience with people. John retired from Shell and made many lasting friendships along the way. He always went out of his way to help friends and even acquaintances with automotive or any other troubles they had.

He loved to reunite his parents and children in Chile to keep the family close in spite of the geographical distance. John was an amazing father, quick with a smile, a great sense of justice and a wry sense of humor. He is survived by his children, Carolyn Wonderland Bradford and John Francis Bradford III of Texas, his step-mother, Gladys Bradford of Pucon, Chile and his former wife and always friend, Kathryn Bradford and her sister Jane Clements of Texas. A memorial service will be held at Earthman Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway on Saturday, February 20th at 3:30 PM. John Francis Bradford Jr. was a man of few words, but many good deeds. In this spirit, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
