Net View displays a list of computers in your current domain or workgroup. You do not have to be connected to the same workgroup or a domain to access a wireless network. So I don't think Net View will give you the correct answer.
I think that the reason that the program was made was to find out who is using your wireless network and to do that you have to explore your arp table. You can not ping an ip/name address if you do not know which address to ping.
