  • @lendallpitts I've got it on the original vinyl, and cd too, it's worth hearing the whole track. I wonder if Mayall has any more from these recordings - I'd love to hear the full tracks of the excerpts during the interview part on side two! Mick Taylor plays superbly on all of it.

  • @BackToTheBlues - but the famous two-sax bit is missing from this video.

  • I am not sure why you cut this recording -- perhaps due to the time constraints in effect when you uploaded it. Also, both volumes of "Diary of a Band" were issued (albeit briefly and somewhat slap-dashly) on CD, replacing the rather noisy London LPs, which you have obviously used.

I heard this band at the end of this tour on a bill with Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, and Big Brother & The Holding Company (w/ Janis Joplin). The Bluesbreakers remain the most memorable performers from that show.

  • I've always loved this version, the feel of the rhythm section, Mayall's raw vocals, Dick Heckstall-Smith's excellent solo (with his famous two-sax bit in it) and most of all Mick's brilliantly paced solo, melodic and inventive, every note in the right place. Fab.

  • @RyanRoss4ever08 Respect!

  • I know the bass player.

He is a cattle farmer now in the new Forrest.

  • maestro........

  • quality stuff, cheers for the upload :)

  • I saw the Bluesbreakers in '69 - perhaps the first concert I went to. It was at the Pasadena Rose Palace, ticket price was ONE DOLLAR. Mick on guitar, tore the roof off the place in a 10 minute take on Parchman Farm. Albert King played that night, as well as Deep Purple. A dollar.

  • Actually people, the video is of the immediately post Bluesbreakers band (late 68), the quartet with Colin Allen on drums, Steve Thompson (the road manager) on bass. The sound track is from the pre Hiseman era, ie Keef Hartley on drums, Tilmann on bass, Can't remember the date, I never had a copy of the album!!!
