@jmintube I suppose you are right, but you still can't just make it all go away. Its gonna have to change over very slowly in small steps, and I still feel that a truly free market and government are one of the first steps.

@henx125 I don't think so, the free market produces technology which is profitable....technological progression is guided by funding....coming from investors who want immediate returns.....I seriously think we have to do away with the monetary system and capitalism by extension before anything meaningful can commence.

@jmintube hah see I could feel you going there - and you'd be suprised to learn that I agree with a lot of things the Zeitgeist has to say, and their solutions to the problems do make sense - but the means by which we must get there is through a lax federal government and a free market system because those make for the best conditions in which technology and new ideas are able to flourish

@henx125 good quote from tocqueville, although you are not entirely correct. Certainly we could have a tyranny of the majority if governance was dictated by majoritarian rule...i would argue for a governance structure that is built off of unanimity....in this way there would be no tyranny and we would have a lot more ad hoc measures in places where there was nothing....just check out Canada's Second Round of MegaConstitutional Debates
