This is my job...lucky huh? I lead environmental education trips, this was a Tree ID class from Lake Forest College in the chicago area...they had been down south for a few days, and this was their last stop before home. I wrote the song about the tree behind me, a 1500 year old Bald Cypress tree (the largest in the state) and its a song about all the things that tree has seen over the years...The sound quality is a little bad as its pointed straight into the wind...sorry bout that here are some lyrics so you can pretend along with me....

Old woman in the water....
Tell me everything youve seen
cold winds blow
ice and snow
did jack frost's kiss make you lean

Old woman in the water
gold blooms ring you fingers
honey bees
buzzin' round your knees
chasing the sweet perfume that lingers

I want to know what you know
I wanna stand til the end of time
Won't you teach me how to grow
and spread these arms of mine

Old woman in the water
does the hot sun bleach your skin
the duck week grows
around your toes
where the wood ducks splash and swim

Chorus

Old woman in the water
its time to go to sleep
loosing leaves
in the autum breeze
that float in the tea stained deep

  • Tree I.D.- is that, like, what is a tree and what is not a tree, or is it types of trees? Cause I would do pretty good with the former but not so good with the latter.

    Good tune, by the way.

  • Your my Favorite Ukein Sweed, good job man miss ya!

    Love, Dave and Amanda

  • I'm so jealous. Great job.

  • Awesome job!

    BRILLIANT

  • Awesome to see it finished and performed on location, bro.

  • I wish ANY of the CEU classes I have to attend included live music. : ) But this is so nice, even liked the wind sounds. You're amazing!

  • You have the voice of an angel. A dirty bearded angel-but an angel nonetheless. Great song my friend!

  • Who knows what dangers 'neath the duckweed lurk? What a great job.

  • tell me more about that job
