From fencing practice 6/17/08.

Beginning to gain the sword, and I believe that my stance is more consistently correct. However, I am still taking giant steps forward in my lunges (remember to 'fall' forward not leap forward...) Also failing to lean my head into the lunge.

I am trying to start to gain the sword from out of measure, as previously discussed, but my opponent continues to advance into wide measure or closer, and then stop.

  • Поразительная неграмотность во владении оружием. Там же чуть ли не постоянно вообще можно просто забирать оружие противника.

  • The point number two:during almost every technique the torso should be normal to the ground, exception being some moves, such as passatto sotto (sorry, bad Italian :]).Bending breaks overall balance, thus limiting movement and weakening the power of the strike, not to mention that bending forward also exposes head and neck.Well, sorry for being boring, but you asked for it... :] Also,I'm not a master so don't take all my words for granted, but that's what I was taught and experienced on my own skin. ;]

  • Wish youtube would fix posting problems... Anyway, this video is a bit old, so you probably know by now - the major lack in both fighters is moving feet before arms during the lounge. It is absolute imperative, from various reasons that during all thrusts, be it lounge, step-thrust, flash, etc., arms straighten forward, then legs carry out the momentum of the strike. That is the main reason both sides had a hard time hitting the opponent, and the injuries were mostly only minor.

  • Excuse me lay man opinion but from material here it seems as if you'd attack without being willing to commit yourself to attacking. Just impression I got (I might be totally wrong of course).

  • pardiez...it seems you hold your point in terza low, or rather more straight with the arm, and you want to turn to quarta very often...

  • i would love to train like this...
