Operant Conditioning With Bengali the Tiger

Here, Susan does some operant conditioning with Bengali, a very cute tiger at Big Cat Rescue! He seems to have a problem focusing on the commands, but I love him anyways!

Big Cat Rescue does operant conditioning for many reasons. One is so the cats can be examined by the vet without being sedated. Sedation is very dangerous when putting big cats under.

With operant conditioning, if a vet wants to see the animals stomach, all they have to do is say "up". It's very helpful and is also fun for the cats!

It seems like they always lose interest when people are doing a video of them.

I made one of some turtles, who moved pretty fast despite their breed's reputation of moving slow.

When I started doing the video, they stopped suddenly and would hardly move at all. I got the footage but missed their fast movements.

Bengali liked the lady in the video. Brian said Bengali never really liked him. He used operant conditioning before he made the enclosure stool-free.
