Oh, forgot to add, on a stock"ish" pickup I normally kick it the timing up a bit to 15-16*. Helps bump the power a little and lower EGTs.

What crankshaft degree does that timing method set it to? I have always used the actual timing tool set for these motors. It's fairly simple to use, it just measures plunger lift on the pump. The kit I have came from Snap On, part # SP500.

Awsome video. Is 122 ft lbs the factory tq specification for the injection pump gear? I was just wondering because I read that the factory specifcation isn't tight enough so the pump can slip out of time after awhile.

@cameron947 122 is the spec but I do TQ to 130 ft Lbs.

Question ? Would it be worth having the Injection pump shaft sloted since theres already a slot in the out put shaft ? I'm a novice with Diesel engines !

@ruwithlee1970 Well here is the deal on the P-Pump.... It can not be keyed to the gear because that is how you advance the timing on that injection pump.
