I dance both Balinese and Javanese court dance. At first I thought they looked spooky. Now I only see the beauty, but it isn't necessarily ignorant for someone to think that it looks strange or even awkward. It's so different that Western eyes may not readily see what a native Indonesian would. I'm sure many non-Westerners find ballet ugly or weird. You can appreciate an art from another culture even if it's seems different... of course it does, it's from another culture! :)

iblis hahahhaa
I've already said what I'm about to say to a certain "tennyphnom" regarding a different dance I posted but I'll say it again. It's really sad to hear someone referring to another culture's art as "spooky" or "awkward". Have a more open mind and be less ignorant of the world around you. The world would be a much better place :).

Hi elibris, i think believe the creator's name is "Marya" not Mario, which are pronounce pretty much similar. Furthermore there are an arts building named after his at Tabanan region.

Hi Kadeck, "Mario" is just an attempt to romanize his name. Balinese has its own script (carakan) so that would probably be the most correct way to write his name down. If you do a google search though, most sites and scholars do spell his name as "Mario" in Roman alaphabets, though "Marya" is probably acceptable too. :)
