In 2010, the Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) Rodeo is proving once again to be one of the most cruel in the world. SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) has exposed phony rodeo humane rules, and will again expose the rodeo world for gross abuse.
In early July 2010, SHARK challenged CFD about a supposed "no-jerk-down" rule it boasted on its website. A jerk-down is a cruel and dangerous method of roping a calf straight over backwards. In response, CFD quietly removed the boast from its site. Sure enough, SHARK investigators have filmed plenty of jerkdowns on the very first day, and one of them injured a calf to the point she had to be carried out of the arena. Other victims were left senseless and shaken.

Corporate sponsors of CFD rodeo cruelty include American Airlines, Coca-Cola, Dodge and Sonic.

There are cruel sports out there that organizations and people such as your self should be targeting, but the sport of rodeo will never disappear so your effort will be better felt elsewhere. It is nice to see people who care about animals so much, but the area you are targeting is the wrong sport.

Rodeo is cruel. The evidence is in the videos. Deny it all you want, it doesn't change the truth. You'd be better working to stop the rodeo abuses we're exposing than criticizing our exposing of it.

The rules are not redundant and in order for a rodeo to be prca approved and to be allowed to continue being prca approved they must follow all of the rules. Contact the prca and ask them to explain the rules to you. If you listen to what they have to say and speak to the rodeo contestants themselves you can clear up all of these false belief.

We know the PRCA rules, inside and out. From the inside. Try again.

Whoever posted this video needs to get their facts straight. The prca has over 70 rules regarding animal welfare that were put in place 7 years before the animal human society was founded. In this event the goal is to complete it the quickest. To do this both animals must run fast and compete at their best. This is not possible if they are sick or injured. It is nice that you care about animals, but get your facts straight before stupidly attacking an organization.

Fact is many of those 70 'rules' are redundant, meaning there's not really 70 after all. Two major facts are, those written rules are often disregarded by rodeo officials, judges, chute workers and contestants; and they do nothing to stop the animals from being injured and killed.

why would you discount even discourage the efforts to expose this shameful activity. hjkbella - who are you? and what is your real agenda? Like the organizers who hide their faces in shame you are one of those guys/gals right? .... Now watching you and your pink clad rodeo gang take a rope to the neck then "fall on your backs but not be injured" I'd pay $100 to see that!! happy holidays....

"animals must run fast and compete at their best." Well, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but the animals could care less if they "run fast". When they run fast, they're running away from a perceived predator. That isn't "competing". That's scaring the shite out of an animal, for fun. Rodeo-land, where it's always funny to watch domesticated animals struggle, so we may laugh and cheer. Very much like dog-fighting.

'Cheyenne' must be an Indian word meaning "land of pink-shirted cowboys." Just a guess ...
