we most unfortunately only have herodot who gives very much account but actually very OFTEN tells bull... he said in the battle of thermophylae the persians had brought 5 million soldiers with them. modern historians say it couldnt have been more than 40- 50k...

not to mention, all the major accounts of the earlier Achaemenid Persian Empire and it's armies and armor and science and tech. come from Greek texts, which are highly biased against them for the reason that the greeks were usually at war against the Persian empire.

finally!
people always railing against the persian empire for not making wide use of war machine technology or metal armor, yet they totally discount that what they are tralking about is the most ancient of civilizations, the Acaemanid Persian Empire (still advanced for it's early civilization status).
Yet they fail to consider the Sassanid Perians who made wide use of disciplined tactics, heavy armor, war machines, took the empire back form the macedonians, and successfully fought the romans!
