  • I test drove a lightning before I bought my rx8 and I didn't like how loud the sc was from in the cab even during casual driving. Although if I do get the pettit sc I will prob put my catless pipe back on and get some headers too so the car will be insanely loud anyways, lol. If you can tell me anything about you experience with your sc I would appreciate it.

  • check out my other vids. I have some in-car vids with sound.

  • 13.5 < fast, $6000+ < cheap, reliable = yes and nicely crafted equiptment yes+. Your idea of fast is somewhere in honda land, if its not in the 12's or better than I won't buy it. I'm pricing a 3 rotor engine swap right now, that will get me in the 12's right off the bat for around 9-10k, not a ton more and still room to grow.

  • He ran a 13.4 with street tires that night. He should be in the 12s with drag radials.

3 rotor swap for 9-10K? Where, and how? Someone that has commented on this vid did the swap on his 8 himself, and it cost him over 20,000 (with him doing all of the work)

  • I am starting to contemplate getting a pettit sc. I like that you still get to rev high unlike a turbod rx8, I don't like the low torque but the reliability over a turbo trumps that. Does the sc whine all the time even when your cruising? If it does, is it loud? I like how a turbo is quiet when cruising but screams when you want it to.

  • If you guys do get into the 12's please post a video, I have been dying to see someone do something with the renesis besides runing 13.9's all the time, all the people that have larger turbos with 360 hp and 255 lbs tq never run their car at the track for us to see the Rx-8 actually be a fast car. I would think about buyin the Pettit myself if I could run a 12.5 with it, I think that would be plenty fun!

  • I priced a stock 3 rotor with twins from JDM of miami for $3500 and Carlos lopez shop will install it for $4000, + you have to buy a microtech emu for $1000 here in tampa, but that is just putting a stock one in, I was planning on having him do some prep work to the 3 rotor, like upgraded seals and removing the exhaust restrictors for an addition $2000, even with the stock turbos I was estimating maybe 375 hp with about 300-320 tq, that should be enough to start with.

  • With a single turbo on the 3 rotor your talking 500+ rwhp on daily driver 12psi and at 18psi 700 rwhp, that can at least eat up cobra stangs instead of running even with a gt.

  • I forgot to mention. He ran a 13.4 with street tires that night. He should be in the 12s with drag radials.

  • That guy that ran the 13.1 had drag radials, more drag experience, and some weight reduction on his car. These guys were drag racing their cars for the first time on street tires with no weight reduction.

Also, that guy that ran the 13.1 eventually BLEW UP his engine. :)

The red car and mine (winning blue) have well over 30,000 miles combined, dozens of autocross events, and a few drag racing events, and we're running even stronger than when we started.

    Fast, Cheap, Reliable--Pick any two?
