Imogene Rawls Myers

Imogene Rawls Myers, 99, of McLeansboro, died at 2:00 A.M. Wednesday August 24, 2011
She was born on January 26, 1912 in Dahlgren Township, the daughter of James Pressley and Myrtle (Daily) Rawls. She married Allie Willis Myers on August 14, 1935 and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2002.
Imogene was baptized in November of 1923 by her cousin, Rev. John Bailey Maulding. She joined with the Blooming Grove Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death.
She taught at many one room schools in Hamilton County, beginning her career at Preston School and ending it at Beaver Creek.
Imogene is survived by one daughter, Judy Thomas and husband Ron of McLeansboro; two sons, Larry Myers and wife Ruth of McLeansboro and David Myers and wife Dinah of Ballwin, Mo.; 9 grandchildren, Andy Myers and wife Jenny of Kansas City, Mo., Paula Myers and Husband Dave of Waltham, Mass, Stacey Rubenacker and husband Terry of Dahlgren, Danny Myers of McLeansboro, Janet Brown and husband David of Gainesville, TX, Tim Thomas and wife Brenda of McLeansboro, Pat Shoultz and husband Steve of Benton, Connie Myers of McLeansboro, and Kathy Floyd and husband Rick of Enfield; 7 great grandchildren, Jessica Varner and husband Jeremy of Christopher, Lauren Wilson and husband Matthieu of Fort Worth, TX, Natalie Shoultz of Benton, Lucendia Adams of Dahlgren, Bryan Thomas of McLeansboro, Kyle Shoultz of Benton, and Fisher Myers of Kansas City, Mo; one great great granddaughter, Brylee Varner of Christopher; one sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Honig of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Dean Myers; two brothers, Stanley J. and Joe Douglas Rawls; and 2 sisters, Mildred Neal and Ruth Jackson.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 27, 2011 at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church, with the Bros. Steve Shoultz and Josh Gottman officiating. Burial was at the Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Visitation was from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 27, 2011 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church.

  • What a wonderful tribute... I don't know who this is but oddly enough I just posted a tribute to my dad on Youtube called "That Big Marquee"... we share the same last name- His name was Neal Myers. (maybe we're distantly related.. was she Portuguese?)...I'm sure your grandma was very special, I'm sorry for your loss...
