My old Admiral TV and I spent our last minutes of NTSC Analog broadcasting. Kind of sad.

  • Did you get your digital converter for that Admiral yet, Rand?

  • Yes. I got a digital converter and the signal is very sharp. Sharpest image i ever saw on this old TV. Gotta give credit where it is due. The digital signal is amazing. I will post a video soon.

  • As a Vacuum tube fanatic, i really have to say that was the sadist thing I have ever seen on an old TV. It's sad that so much is now over, the lore , the magic and the wonder ( and the not so happy things) about analog are gone....

  • I agree with you 100%. After the switch I had a silent sadness in my heart. Oh well. All good things come to an end.

  • now the rest of the world has to follow richtnow to say for good goodby to pal, ntsc and even secam.

also digital sdtv has to get out and replaced with only hd signals,to say goodby to the analogue age!!!!!

  • @lrd9999 there was talk earlier in the 2011 of adding new channels to saor view(our digital tv service) but so far all thats resulted in is a 24 hour news channel of main bulleten repeats and a kids channel. but anyway i do agree thats its sad that you can't have portable tv's anymore... but over hear in ireland you can get 'Saor View Approved tv's' which basically have the decoder built into them. so it is possible to get the signal without a box connected, but they arn't very ''portable''....

  • Nice tv set

  • @lusk1998 We've actually got a few more channels in the Boston area, but they're all local; no more getting fuzzy pictures from other states. It didn't just cut out here the way it did in the video, we had a few weeks of repetitive PSAs about what to do if you hadn't converted yet. It's still a little sad, every TV needs a hookup to the antenna in the attic; no such thing as a portable, at least for now. Hope they add a few more channels over there.

  • our digital switchover is happening in oct. 2012....the thing is our new digital service here in Ireland is really crappy because you can actually pick up more channels on the analog service than the new digital one which is really stupid.....f*** you digital switchover!!

  • i am no electronic experts but here is what I don't like about the new digital TV signals. On the old analog signals even if the signal was faint you could still see something (not using cable) even if the reception was bad. On the new analog signal it seems that you either see something or nothing at all

  • Talk about a inglorious ending! The last true program was a commercial? If I had been the one calling the shots, the last hour would have been a tribute to analog.

Of course, thinking about it, if I had been the one calling the shots, I wouldn't have even switched! Stupid government mandates!

  • @JustCallMeFox your welcome I laughed myself lol I forgot I posted a comment on this video

  • @CastleCrashers441 So I'm sitting here crying at this, then I read your comment, and burst out laughing through my tears.

    Thank you.

  • ...this made me cry...
