Never heard he had a rat he was close to but with all the human rats out there trying to find ways to destroy MJ and take his money, maybe it's best that Michael is at peace now. I thought he had a monkey he was close to named Bubbles.

No, Michael Jackson did not have a rat named "Ben". He wrote the theme song for the movie "Ben" which was about a boy with a pet rat named Ben. The movie came out in 1972. The song won a couple of awards for Best Original Song.
