Pet Primates Cause Problems!

Primates are not domestic animals and should not be kept as household pets. Most people do not have the resources (including appropriate primate companions ) to raise a mentally healthy monkey!

I HAVE WORKED WITH HUMAN RASIED MONKEYS AND MONKEY RAISED MONKEYS. I HAVE ALSO DONE FIELD RESERCH WITH CAPUCHINS IN SOUTH AMERICA. SO WHO IS CLUELESS.

@rachelcapt225 Do you really think its ok for the mums & babies to be torn apart just so selfish people can have one as a pet and as you say "enjoy them"? Any young primate reared by its mum (even if she is a pet) will not need to make a dependant bond with its human owner which is what people seek. Please dont kid yourself that the videos of cutely dressed baby monkeys were not the result of this cruel practice.

In order for selfish people to keep these animals as pets the captive breeding monkeys are kept in cages & not handled. The resulting babies are cold heartledly pulled from the screaming distressed mums at 1 day old in order to be bottle fed & hand reared ready to sell as pets at a few weeks old for approx 4500 dollars (£2800). Adults are sold on when no longer wanted. Do animal lovers really support this? Rescuing unwanted or neglected animals is commendable but this sad trade is shameful :0(

Let those who want monkeys enjoy them! Quit trying to control them. The monkey may like living with people, it's not that bad of a life.
