(Note: This is a 5-minute version of a 15-minute film.) Based on a short story by the turn of the century Czech writer Karel Capek, 'The Last Judgement' chronicles the life, death, and next life of the notorious multiple-killer Ferdinand Kugler. This ruthless villain killed nine people in his time - old people, young people, friends, girlfriends, and people he had never seen until the moment before he pulled the trigger. Finally driven to petty crime and theft by the necessity to survive the only way he has come to know, he is cornered and trapped in an industrial alleyway and gunned down by the police. Upon facing his Last Judgment, when the sins of his earthly life are called forth and the eternal fate of his soul must be decided, the God we all think we know turns out to be nothing like what Kugler imagined him to be, and the concept of Judgment itself is revealed to be more complicated than anyone could have anticipated.
Whoa. God's so awesome. :D \m/

Actually, a comment on the video description: Karel Capek (1890-1938) wss NOT, obviously, a turn-of-the-century writer.
