@JerryRSun I understand, and agree with ur point. It rings especially true NOW!! She does have terrible technique which has clearly damaged her voice, and deteriorated her range!! But in general then (2006) her voice was still in pretty good shape, she was still skilled enough for offset her 'bad habits'. In general over-singing has never been too much of a problem for me, it's the talent, and spirit, and passion that really captivates most Problem is she just got worse and regressed...

@Thkmra I realize that there are plenty of legendary singers who are distinguished by their "bad" habits, but I personally feel that Christina's are more irritating and more likely to cause little girls to damage their voices. I feel Christina's voice has gotten worse over the years, and maybe her best was right before Stripped came out. She has plenty of hits, but she does not have any great songs to make her a legend like Patti and Aretha. Back to Basics and Bionic are both boring failures.

@JerryRSun .that's funny, becuz he HIMSELF feels the exact opposite, and in fact was honored to have been able to work with such a talent!! Also those 'flaws' which you warmly characterize, are some of the very same ones Patti Labelle, and to a lesser extent Aretha Franklin had. Nonetheless they are still considered to be legendary; two of the best singers of all-time!! I suspect Christina will also in a couple of decades!!-)

@JDizzleMiller Herbie Hancock is extremely out of Christina's league. Christina could have been such a better singer if she had some lessons early on. She has some good qualities, and has everyone fooled because that's what people hear and not her tons and tons of huge flaws. She is talented, but horrible at the same time.

@farfarra The Buble version is the best..

She screams through the whole thing. Good christ.

im a big fan of Christina myself and with all respects to her but the Amy's version is way better by far.

Her voice is one of a kind & her vocal riffs and runs are just to remind everyone she is the baddest bitch working in music today.

can you people not hear this is excruciatingly bad not a hater just using my ears
Christina's excessive vocal runs and melismas is what makes her "the voice of our generation". For those who complain about her "over-singing", mind you Whitney, The Voice over sings herself. Watch her live performances, she does what Xtina does - adds excessive vocal runs and shows off her vocal acrobatics. Whitney belts continuously with that mammoth voice of hers. Mariah decorates her music with melismas and utilises her whistle register too much. Oversinging is what defines a true singer.

Who gives a shit about technique?? Jazz and blues isn't about technique, it's about passion and soul. Christina is the queen and the voice of our generation.
