LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! So good and so true. Damn hippies. It's post-modernism gone crazy. Made it's way into the english departments and art departments around the world. Thank goodness the science departments told these shroom filled hippies to take a hike.

@schmopykins oh yes I had english last year and it was soul destroying the amount of pointless analysis we had to do, ripping apart people's novels in search of symbolism that doesn't matter, luckily I don't need to know how to dissect depressing 20th century literature for engineering :)

the sad thing is that i think modern art used to be ok not ''great''but now that people are well...... retarded because now people will have a few sticks all round a paper and someone buys it for say 1000 dollars so on then the buyer would think it ment a symbol of say a''destiny''or a''memory''practically just seeing what the buyer wants...when they gotta see its just some random shapes that the ''artist'' just put together...

I'm an American artist, but I agree with most of what you say. The bad part is that there are two broadly defined sorts of art today: 1) commercially viable art, e.g. Thomas Kinkade and other schmaltzy rubbish designed to appeal to the LCD of Middle American "taste", and 2) academically viable art that will impress gallery curators and get you NEA grants, shit (often quite literally shit) like Damien Hirst, Manzoni, Serrano et al). There's no room in the middle for actual good art.

The relativists are the philistines. Egalitarianism and liberalism in art (and in everything else) is the recipe for degeneracy. Modern art is low culture made high. It is nothing more than an act of leveling by the masses.
