OMG. I live in North Wales where UK tv reception was crap in the 80's. We all pointed our aerials ocer the sea towards Kippure and got decent pictures from RTE 1 and RTE 2 (Network 2).
I remember being ill with the mumps and being forced to listen to Irish Folk on the RTE test card - it was quite good!
I dreaded the opening sequence and ... wait for it ....
BOSCO!
Then I watched Emmerdale Farm (ancient long-forgotten episodes!)
Good old days?
Maby!

@keithc1977 - Remember travelling back from Ireland and watching RTE on the on-board TV sets.
An Irish family asked me if I knew what RTE stood for....
I said Radio Telefis Eireann.
They said - NOPE;
I means Really Terrible Entertainment ...
Made a change from BBC. As I said UK tv reception was poor. RTE from Kippure was clear as a bell. And RTE were miles ahead with DALLAS!

@PatGleeson123 - I remember a James Last LP called - Ireland to Last.
A 2-FM DJ - called it - Leave Ireland to Last!!

This video always intrigues me, ALWAYS. I just find it hard to believe that anyone in the UK was recieving, interested in, or watching RTE television in the 1980s. I know that the signal from both Kippure and Three Rock was strong, but it still fascinates me that it could have travelled across the Irish Sea and attracted interest.
