  • "Portrait of Sheila" was a groundbreaking album for vocal jazz, not the least for the use of guitar rather than piano. In another vein altogether, singer Ruth Price had already recorded an album with guitarist Johnny Smith.

  • I love you Sheila!!!

    It's me Juan Burgos.

  • Funny. Back in the 60's, DownBeat magazine featured a story about how Shelia and George met and how she took him up to the Pennsylvania coal mine region and how "You Are My Sunshine" is their anthem. This great interview completes the circle for many of us with rich detail. Thank you very much!

  • Cool--check out Sheila with the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band--the tune is Tango, and she does a great version of Straight, No Chaser, both on Youtube, from a tour she did with the band in Japan in 1988--award-winning tour.

  • Enjoyed the conversation. Have read where Bill Evans was a big follower of the Lydian method book written by George Russell.

Loved Sheila Jordan in Paris with Serge Forte.

    WOW! what a group.

  • I agree with Ms. Jordan...George Russell is a genius. Check his music out! Anyone out there have any videos of George's music to post?

  • This is great, thanks!
