My 1993 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible 0-120. Cold air intake, MSD wires, and the other usual tune ups, spark plugs synthetic lube etc. Yeah, i know its not super fast, but hey. Im a 17 year old kid. And the car runs great and looks good. Im having some trouble with 3rd gear though, towards the top end it slows down like the engines struggling. Let me know if you have an idea as to what it is.

  • I bought an 95 gtc with about 45k about a year ago and a few months after buying it the tranny started kicking in low rpm in 4th gear. It's a good summer car but I've seen many people have a hard time with their trannys as do I. I haunt fixed the tranny in fear of it messing up in a year and just throwing that money down the drain.

  • @afr126 Yeah honestly the best thing you can do is just swap for a 5-speed. I had only a few hundred miles on my rebuilt transmission and the car was totaled so that was a waste.

  • @latemodelmopar93 And how much would you think that would cost? Installation and all.

  • @afr126 The hardest part is finding the trans, if you can find a donor car, that'd be best. and cost an install would be close to what it would cost to rebuild one of those A604's, maybe more. Mine cost me $2400 to have rebuilt.

  • i have 1 94. got it to 120 as well. jus be careful lettin off the gas at that speed. blew my tranny

  • @Kswisss222 Lol well at that time i was on the 2nd transmission. Fairly fresh, then my axles went and tore up my diff so i had it rebuilt a 3rd time before the wreck. I hate that A604...

  • Never seen a Lebaron move that fast haha, but that 3rd gear 'problem' really isnt one at all, the trasmission is "splitting" the torque to 3rd gear. When the tramission deems neccesary, it will use the full 3rd gear and 'unsplit' the torque and drop the rpm down alil. Sorta like a mini shift, but without the gear. Alot of autos do that, my old Avenger did it all the time.

But yea, 5 speeds are always better :)

  • i have a 1992 with the 2.2L Turbo II Convertible

like it better kinda then the 3.0L lol Gas wise

I have 175HP Stock. 127,000 Kms (whatever that is in miles, it's Low)

Fun to drive, has Enough balls for a 4 cylinder for me.

  • @ghrca Sweetness, hang on to it, theyre fantastic cars. and the turbos have a fair amount of aftermarket. Ill always miss mine.

  • @latemodelmopar93 nice i got i think its a 91 lebaron coupe with 2.2l turbo
