If you know or read much about the history of Mahler's third, you'll find the piece itself and Mahler's obsession with it is not too dissimilar to those views held by Blake. I think the piece took up a life of its own and compelled Mahler to complete it. For some reason I always think of Herman Melville's quotes about his novel, Moby Dick--
"...a polar wind blows through it and birds of prey hover over it." Almost as if it were a force of its own to be reckoned with!

Excellent! I love that piece! Not too many catch that.

That's the first movement of Mahler's third symphony.

lol. People have told me that before. Some have told me that it seemed like I had "no accent" of any kind which is why it sounds weird.

Powerful film. And I didn't realise Blake had a brother. I remember reading that he thought poets weremystic visionaries as he probably thought this according to his own visions with religious experiences.

Yes, I often wonder what Blake would think and how his unique perspective would be received in this age.

I absolutely love that work too. (In fact, Mahler is my favorite composer) I don't know much about Blake yet, but I want to learn more about him.

Blake was a little wacky but amazing art.
