  • Gifts from a wedding aren't that unusual, even in the states. We call them "wedding favors," And they are usually something like a candle holder, your name card (if it's something special, like a giant diamond or something,) Jordan Almonds. Etc.

  • About returning favors, I think this is a great ritual and custom. It shows care for another person. They after all went out of their way for us, so it shows appreciation much more than simply saying 'Thank you' which really is a lot of fluff sometimes! I have Japanese friends and their way of'thanking me' really touches my heart! Also regarding wedding 'gifts' given to attendees. There are some communities in India that do the same.
