In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it's easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that -- to help people see themselves in others -- through the power of film.

On May 10, 2008 -- Pangea Day -- sites in Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro will be linked to produce a 4-hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music. The program will be broadcast live to the world through the Internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones.

Your film could be part of it. The online video revolution has helped spawn a new generation of grass-roots film-makers worldwide. Much of the output, of course, is mediocre. But hidden in there are amazing talents capable of using film to astonishing effect... and capable of telling stories that can create powerful bonds between us.

So ask yourself this. If you had the entire world's attention for just a few minutes, what story would you tell? Perhaps you think the world looks at you, your country and your culture... and just doesn't understand. Then do something about it. Make a film and upload it here http://www.youtube.com/group/pangeaday You never know. It could end up bringing millions of people that bit closer together.

Pangea is the name of the original super-continent which contained all the world's land mass before the continents started splitting apart 250 million years ago. We're launching Pangea Day with the vision that the people of the world can begin to overcome their divisions, and that the power of film can help make it possible.

Movies can't change the world. But the people who watch them can.

  • just like how you have the "freedom" to worship what ever u want. they have the choice to believe in islam, which is not a bad religion at all. maybe some miss understand it and miss use it but that includes all other religions Christianity, Judaism, etc. so plz go and read a damn book and get educated. and not all americans are like that so plz people dont hate on a race or nationality because of a few uneducated ppl like that retard.

    peace...

    the subtitles are incorrect. like:

    hab

    eht seltitbes era tcerrocni. ekil:

UNDERSTAND. WORDS ARE BACK TO FRONT!!

  • Written wrongly. Should be written from right to left and conjoined for certain letters not separated. If left separated it's just read as letters not words. But all the same, a good video. It's a reminder of the Singapore's Pledge.

  • the Subs aren't right!! the letters are not conjoint to gether

  • good job. too bad thats chopped up and very impropor arabic. its like me writing jfkdsjfaksldfjklsdjflk in english

  • no no no, dnt cuss the ppl who scorn at arabs and muslims, for they have the same mentality as the ppl who hated african americans in the 50's 60's, and the same as the ppl who hated jews during the holocost.these ppl arent scumbags or rednecks, i believe they are either brainwashed by cnn,or just ignorant. but in the end, its their opinion and who r we to change it?
