well there you have your exception right there... (AFAIK, both c and d had the xk120 engine with way sharper cams and tripple wedber carbs).
ive driven an absolutely lovely protheus c-type replica a couple of times and it sounds like nothing ive ever heard before (including loads of xk´s and e-types as well as two other c-type replicas and one d-type replica). also way better than the ones in this vid. if god existed, im positive that his voice sounds just like that one car... ;)

There was a Green C type in Los Altos Calif in C. 1967-70-something. maybe later. Off Pepper Dr, in a Cul De Sac, near Gorden.

With little exception, there are few cars that sound as good as the Jaguar 6 cylinder 3.8, or 4.2 liter engine, especially when prepared for racing. It is indeed fine music to the ears!
