http://www.10BJJCommonMistakesandMatAttitudes.com Have you ever noticed that with all the grappling techniques and videos that are available to a grappler these days that most of them (if not all) spend more time showing you how to do a technique instead of:

- When you should (or shouldn't) use a technique
- Why you should (or shouldn't) use the technique during a match
- Where's the best place, time or mindset to have when using a certain technique or training with a certain type of opponent and who's the best type of opponent to use it against

That's what is missing from most grappling instruction... too much grappling technique and not enough mat strategy. That's why so many grapplers never improve.

The first video is "Resting in the Wrong Position (Part 1)" is a two-part mistake (covering both top and bottom positions). So, watch the video, post a comment telling me if you like (or hate) the video, and then try it in class.

I think what Royce Gracie taught us at UFC 1 probably still applies today...

  • @biggs0218 Teaches u bad habits like going to ground straight away & isn't designed for street situations but for ring the way it seems to be in every club round my area and on youtube. I dont see any weapons defenses, and the emphasis is on floor grappling. The takedowns are heavily influenced by sutemi waza (Sacrifice throws).

Let's start a polite conversation then: Please explain why do you believe BJJ is useless in a real fight?

  • maaa nigggasssss

  • @blakemorecd LOL! OG

  • See, u BJJers are so overconfident, u need ur asses brought down a peg or ten!

  • @mrdubcrazy put a boxer against a black belt and see who dies

  • Very good vid. IMO not enough address fitness in grappling. Probably because most who have grappled for any length of time are naturally going to be in excellent shape. But still needs to be addressed. There is absolutely no other sport, exercise, etc. that even remotely resembles teh cardiovascular requirements of grappling. This is fact. That's why it is such an essential part of any grappling style. Or you're simply going to get chewed up.
