  • mmm, sorry youtube didn't seem to take my 2nd reply, the CX5 was fairly easy to use but using cassettes to save data can be tricky, so if you get one make sure it has an FD05 disk drive with some diskettes. Maybe an FB01 module would be easier to integrate with protools/cubase. Also 6 operator FM synthesis (like on a Yamaha DX7) sounds better than the 4 operator cx5. Hope you are having fun on your degree !

  • hay bro loving ur yamaha CX5 music im a anthusiast i was wondering their easy to program an get around without the manual. PS cute movie / composition:D:D:D:D

  • Hi foxcub79, CX5 were good at the time, probably easier to use a PC now. Initially I used YRM-501 FM Music Composer II Music sequencer for composition and orchestration with disc support, but later I got a non-yamaha real-time sequencer. Thanks for commenting :-)

  • ive still got my cx5 up in the loft, and yes saving to cassette was so unreliable.

  • Was thinking of purchasing one to have the FM synthesizer and i like geek all toys, my question was would it be easy to figure out and such. Im a music tech degree student and often use protools and cubase. P.s thanks for replying
