Have you tried the lifts in the Spinaker Tower at Portsmouth Harbour? I recomend it. This place has an external lift and an internal lift - wounderful place to visit and it's about 5 min walk from Portsmouth Harbour rail station. If ya don't mind heights yad like the view.

LOL! "IGNORE THAT ANNOYING PRIVATE SIGN!" I guess the lift motor room must be in the basement but you couldn't find out because you need a key to go down there!

Another single speed AC/1 Express model was utilized in a few government rental apartment blocks in Hong Kong in the 1960s, featuring one-piece side opening doors and ceilings that allowed you to openly view the shaft. These started off with original Express equipment, and the cars were later modernized in two stages with local car designs and closed ceilings. They persisted till they were replaced with FIAM AC/2 lifts in 1990.

Good finds these! How did you get into the buildings? (were you supposed to be in there?)
Looks like these are both single speed lifts. Was there a floor position indicator in any of the lift cars?
Good commentary, and it's good you went up the stairs to find lift motor room - sometimes you can get lucky, would love to have seen these motor rooms!

You can go in the buildings monday - friday only in office opening times.
