I actually think that the Dwarf Bulbears were there the first time you went to Perplexing Pool. Oh, and if I remember correctly, the big Bulbear does not appear until day 30.

If you're really going to do the game as fast as possible, you need to aim for getting every single treasure in eight days, so you still have some improvements to do. I think my current best is ten or eleven days for 100% completion, with just under 30 pikmin lost. Oh, and since he's continuing the Let's Play after the debt is repaid, I'm assuming he's going for 100% completion.
